Spec Ops Test 5: Rifle Reload | Tactical Rifleman

Combat reload (5 Seconds)- Start in either high or low ready position with one round in the chamber and an empty magazine the Rifle. At buzzer engage the designated combat reload target. M4 Mag, break Rifle off of shoulder and then reload and engage for one more shot. You do not have to manipulate the safety. -Same nomenclature and same teaching points as Combat Reload Pistol. Same hand position, eye discipline and muscle memory if you are one of my students. A point many of you may not be aware of...The HOT Mag. It's the mag in the same position you ALWAYS draw from for this reload. Doing a Tac reload? Get that mag elsewhere. Forced to do a Combat Reload? As soon as you can get to a pause, get a fresh mag into the Hot Mag location. It's where your muscle memory will send you for a mag if you train to perfection. Muscle memory does have its faults, this illustrates one...you have to be thinking and be part of the process also. Your Hot mag is the one best positioned for you to execute this reload the fastest. It could be on your belt, your PC, even in the small of your back...but it's the one you train to go to and its mounted in a way that it will come loose when you need it. One last Training Point to look for on all of these manipulations...the only parts of the body that should be moving are the parts needed to execute the task. Knees bending, shoulders turning, hips moving around are all wasted time and movement. Video yourself and your buddies and look for this kind of stuff...you will be surprised what you see.
